Amalfi Coast Weddings: The Craze to Get Married Continues

When planning to get married, you would like your dream wedding to be a unique and memorable one. There is this craze that has been hitting the wedding scene for the past decade. More and more couples have decided to have their weddings away from home and found that a wedding in Italy is the perfect way to celebrate destination weddings. Even Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes had a destination wedding in Italy!

Many couples have been searching for the top wedding destinations, as well as the top honeymoon locations all over the world for a perfect destination wedding. They were not disappointed when they decided to have an Amalfi Coast wedding in Italy.

Imagine looking over at the crashing waves while you exchange your vows. We all hope that this is the first (and last) time we will ever have a wedding in Italy. Why not make it amazing!

I have had a first hand experience with having an Amalfi Coast wedding, specifically a wedding in Positano. For those searching for the perfect wedding destination overseas, why not plan on having your wedding in Positano? Its beauty is surpassed by none, it is no wonder why it is considered as one of the top wedding destinations in the world today.

Yes, there are a lot of good places for wedding destinations in Italy but I really do not think there is anything more romantic than having a Positano wedding. I cannot begin to describe the feelings I had when we had our Positano wedding. It was truly an unforgettable experience for the both of us.

A wedding in Positano is like a paradise for lovers who would like to have a wedding getaway. People have been captivated by its beauty as well as with the ancient structures that abound. One good example of such structures is the Positano Town Hall where the civil Positano weddings take place.

Positano town hall is like no town hall you have ever laid eyes on. This place is incredible. The people will treat you like royalty. If your lucky you may even get married by the mayor.

We had this simple, yet elegant wedding ceremony on the terrace of the town hall which was overlooking the sea. The terrace was beautifully decorated according to our specifications.

You will never run out of things to do while you are there. You could go on day trips, visit the Amalfi Coast’s museums and attractions, engage yourselves in different sports and outdoor activities or have an adventure off the beaten path. The experience is breathtaking! It is really a joy to explore the place.

The possibilities are truly endless. It is certainly the most romantic place to get married in Italy. There is really nothing compared to having a Positano wedding. You would find yourself falling in love with each other all over again.

Walking through the winding streets of Amalfi and Positano in your wedding dress is sort of like being in a movie. Everyone calling out to you ‘congratulations’ in Italian. It is a memory that you will take with you for your whole life.

Amalfi Coast Weddings: My Favorite Wedding Destination!

This is my favourite wedding destination so much so that I got married here myself. I did look high and low for the perfect venue as there was a lot I needed to take into consideration however there were also heart felt reasons for marrying here, the main one being that my husband had visited Positano when he was only 17 and had said then that this was the most beautiful place on earth, not knowing that more than 30 years later he would be marrying me in the same place.

The Amalfi Coast is drama, sheer and utter drama.  From the moment you land in Naples airport, there is drama, the heat, the chat, the traffic all contributing to your arrival this is your fanfare.  If you are brave enough to pick up a car and drive, you will find that your knuckles will start to protrude as you cling to your car wheel as the motorway gets smaller and then bigger, the cars crossing and getting in your way or zooming past at speeds which you never thought possible, but keep calm, it is all part of the fun.  The best way to get to the Amalfi Coast in my view is to go Via Sant’Agnello as it is only when you turn a certain corner that you will see the Amalfi Coast in its full glory and it will be a spiritual experience!

The Amalfi Coast is unique and nature has worked in harmony with man and has allowed itself to be adapted to ensure this co-existence.  With the mountains plunging steeply into the sea, deep fjords – Furore being an example, coves, cliffs, caverns, bays, natural arches, small pebble beaches, small sandy stretches, all contributing to its appeal.  Add to this the houses and towns clinging to every available space, warm pastel colours, bougainvillea, lemon groves, terraces, the calmness of the sea, the distant fishing boats and yachts, and its inhabitants and you will understand what true beauty is all about.

There are a total of 13 towns/villages along this stretch of road where it is possible to tie the knot.     Each village has something truly special and somewhat unique to offer and here is just a selection of the options available to couples and which we recommend:

Our journey starts in Positano and we have the open air town hall where weddings can be held on the terrace weather permitting.  Positano is one of the very few town halls in Italy where you can marry at midnight by candle-light, you pay over and above, but it is truly magical.  Then there is the boutique hotel with its garden in the historical centre. In the main square of Positano is the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta with its great “majolica cupola” which is visible from all over town. You can have a religious wedding ceremony in this wonderful church or you can choose to celebrate your religious wedding in 2 other churches which are also available here.   Or there are some amazing villas where a ceremony is also possible.  Bear in mind that these are the most expensive wedding types as they are also the most exclusive.

Our next recommendation is Amalfi. An ancient marine Republic, you can marry in the beautiful Cathedral which is Amalfi’s centerpiece. The steps leading up to the church are ideal for wedding pictures.   If you feel that this church may be a bit over the top for you, we have 2 other lovely churches close by, one is quite unique while the other is tucked away.  You can also get married on the terrace of a luxury hotel offering breathtaking views and we have quite a few to recommend or again, a villa wedding can also be looked.  We must not forget the dramatic and charming town hall which gives you a sense of purpose. Civil weddings are performed the elegant former Benedectine Monastery dating back to the 12th century.

Then there is Ravello with its breathtaking views, its beautiful patrician villas, its tranquil and elegant atmosphere.  For your religious wedding in Ravello, you can pick from a selection of 4 churches one of them being the 11th century Duomo, rich with artistic treasures like the bronze central door adorned with 54 panels. Civil weddings are performed in the local town hall and it is also possible to have the ceremony outside, weather permitting. Ravello has a range of villas offering fantastic gardens and wonderful views where the sea and the sky intermingle so that you feel that you are really close to God.

The Amalfi Coast does offer an amazing selection of villas which are usually located outside the historical centres most of them of course must be rented from Saturday to Saturday and most of them offer the space and the drama for an exclusive and intimate wedding. The other options available to you can be a wedding in a cove away from the madding crowd which can only be accessed by boat, a wedding party on a boat or a yacht, whatever your needs, the Amalfi Coast provides you with complete uniqueness.

Dream Amalfi Coast Weddings

You think it’s the right time to marry the person you love. You have both decided to tie the knot and make things official. It’s finally time to make your dream of having an Italian Style wedding a reality. You’ve been thinking of having this traditional Italian Style Wedding ever since and now you would finally get to do what you’ve long dreamed of doing. I know you already have a clear picture of what you want inside your head.

You pretty much know what you want but let me tell you that I could offer some pretty good suggestions too. Did that get your attention? I’m no expert when it comes to planning weddings but I do know what I want and got it when I got married on this beautiful town off the Amalfi Coast in Italy. I’m telling you that we really enjoyed the occasion. It’s one important event in our lives that we will cherish forever.

The coastal town I’m speaking of is a small town called Positano. Let me tell you why we chose this place. First off, we really wanted to have an Italian Style Wedding. We didn’t want to do an Italian style wedding in the states. We wanted it to be in Italy for it to be authentic. So, we did some research, talked to some people and found out about this beautiful town on the Amalfi Coast.

I would say that of all the equally beautiful coastal towns in Amalfi, there was just something that prompted us to decide that having a Positano Wedding was what we wanted. It was the most romantic and picturesque place to us. The place looked just perfect. It had the entire feel of being inside a scene from a fairytale. Positano had everything we were looking for.

The entire town was constructed cascading down the hillsides of Positano in such a way that it seemed like it was flowing out into the turquoise beauty that was the sea. The houses were entirely white and they looked like giant canvasses for the colorful flowers that decorated everybody’s garden. Their ancient structures such as their church and town hall have been preserved and well kept through generations.

It wasn’t really hard for us to decide to get married in Positano. I think the hardest part in planning the wedding would be the paperwork to make the wedding legal. We didn’t want it to be a symbolic wedding; we wanted to have an Italian Wedding license. We had to call every government agency and complete a checklist for what we wanted to do.

It’s a good thing we didn’t have that much trouble in planning the details for the ceremony and the reception. There are a lot of reputable wedding planners and coordinators in Amalfi. It’s no surprise since Amalfi has long been considered one of the prime wedding destinations in Italy.

Our wedding was done on the huge terrace of the local town hall. We were told that this is where most of the legal marriages are done. It had a magnificent view of the sea and the place had been decorated according to our specifications. It just added more romance to the occasion. We think that it’s one of the things that made our Amalfi coast wedding perfect!

Our Reception was done at the luxurious Hotel Les Sirenuse. If you intend to have a more intimate time to celebrate by yourselves, there is a huge selection of specialty restaurants all over the place. They serve wine and traditional Italian dishes cooked fresh for your Amalfi Wedding celebration. Their seafood specialties are a must try.

Amalfi Weddings Are Always Unforgettable

Many people marvel at those who have the opportunity to get married in another part of the world. Italy has become a hotspot for weddings and Amalfi weddings are one of a kind. These great outlets are to be used by the bride and groom who are getting ready to start planning their wedding within Amalfi.
An Amalfi wedding is not going to happen if the bride and groom do not give themselves enough time to plan. If this has always been a goal for the couple, they should begin planning once the engagement has taken place. Waiting until a few months prior to the special day is not going to help at all. The best thing to do is to start now so that the best rates are found.
Try to get in on some travel discounts within the Amalfi area for the guests that will be travelling out to Italy with the bride and groom. Those who are flying in from the states should keep the ceremony party to a small group to make the wedding special as well as unforgettable. Book hotel rooms and try to find specials on airfare to keep all costs down.
Send out the invitations and give out all of the necessary information as well. Guests will need to know what they will need to bring as well as where they will be staying and when they need to book their plane tickets. These tickets can be a bit pricey so try to include information on where to find the lowest deals around.
An authentic Italian cake can easily be made and purchased within Amalfi. Try to look for a bakery out there and order a tasteful cake that can feed just about everyone. Because the wedding is small, there is no need to order a big huge cake. However, if the whole entire family are coming out there, order a decent sized cake for the party to enjoy.
Amalfi weddings are popular among couples who may or may not be Italian. The fact of the matter is this is a very lovely spot to get married in and couples love basking in its love. Book the accomodations and send out the invitations and soon as possible and have fun.

Why Hire a Professional Photographer For Your Amalfi Coast Wedding

You’re on your way to making your destination wedding Italy a reality. You’ve already made all the arrangements. Your hotel has been booked, all the necessary paperwork has been accomplished and you’ve made it a point to hire a professional wedding planner to take care of all your Amalfi wedding needs.

Why don’t you go through your checklist again just to make sure you don’t miss anything important? All the guests have been informed, the invitations have been sent out and the guest list has been finalized.  Looks like all the preparations for your Amalfi Coast wedding has been well planned out.

Everything’s good to go except for one very important detail. Who’s going to take the pictures? Don’t tell me you forgot to hire a professional Positano wedding photographer. Not hiring one is certainly a mistake you don’t want to make.

There are a lot of reputable and trusted names who would be good candidates when it comes to choosing the right Amalfi wedding photographer. I’ll leave the selection process up to you but let’s take the time to find out the advantages of hiring one instead of having your wedding pictures taken by an amateur.

Why hire a professional Positano wedding photographer? It is essential that you hire a professional since they are experienced and committed to their work as they are expected to come up with quality images lest they want to ruin their reputation. They could easily adapt to the elements and challenges presented by most Italy wedding venues. Amateurs and hobbyists could not be personally held with the same accountability.

I’ve heard of a lot of “horror stories” about having family and friends as the designated photographers just because you forgot or didn’t see the need to hire one. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event and you don’t want inferior skills or equipment to ruin the memories of your special day.

A professional will capture your priceless wedding moments using top of the line equipment, post process the images with the best editing software and take enough time to go over each photo to make sure he has the best results. They also order the prints and album from only the best print labs in Italy to ensure that you get the highest quality prints possible.

Consistency comes with experience and is also one of the primary benefits when hiring a professional Positano wedding photographer. These all boils down to having the necessary training required to get the job done. This allows them to see and take the most beautiful shots that amateurs fail to take advantage of.

At the end of the day, hiring a trusted professional would still be the best way to go. Your wedding day is something that you would want to remember forever. Don’t trust just anybody to take your pictures if you cannot guarantee the quality of their work and their commitment to deliver excellent results.

Five Ideas for an Amalfi Coast Wedding Reception

Amalfi coast weddings are the most romantic way to get married in Italy. Brides who have Amalfi coast weddings get to enjoy the rich culture and history of Italy, stunning landscapes and romantic wedding venues. Often touted as the most beautiful stretch of shoreline in Italy.

The Amalfi Coast landscapes offer a rugged terrain, clinging cliff side roads, scenic beauty, and picturesque towns make for stunning Amalfi Coast wedding reception venues.

Idea 1: Sunset Bellinis on a Positano Hotel Terrace
Some of the world’s leading luxury hotels have large terraces that can accommodate a small wedding party of 10-20 people. If your Amalfi Coast wedding is taking place a little earlier in the day, then it is possible to have a sunset bellini reception with hot and cold canapes, overlooking the sea and the cliff side town of Positano. Following this stunning sunset reception you and your guests may have an intimate dinner at one of Positano’s amazing local restaurants.

Idea 2: A Wedding Banquet Overlooking the Sea
For larger wedding parties you many choose to host a banquet complete with a DJ, dancing and dinner following your Amalfi Coast wedding. Many hotels and restaurants have become accustomed to holding beautiful candlelight wedding receptions for Amalfi Coast wedding brides. Many of these restaurants offer breathtaking view of Positano and the sea and the village.

Idea 3: An Intimate Seaside Dinner with Guests

Following your sunset Amalfi Coast wedding, you and your guests can head down the labyrinth of streets to the seafront. There are a few small and charming restaurants directly on the beach in Positano that are elegant yet intimate and comfortable for a small wedding party. Guests can dine on a preset menu that you choose, with only the freshest local ingredients and fish directly from the sea just a few steps away. Following your dinner reception, you and your spouse can take a moonlit walk along the sea or even head to the local disco with you guests for drinks and dancing!

Idea 4: Impress Guests with a Romantic and Private Villa Reception

If you have a large number of guests attending your Amalfi Coast wedding then you may opt to rent a local villa. Many villas are found 1,000ft above sea level and offer stunning views. They can be converted to offer a dinner reception inside or better yet, outdoors in a lemon tree filled garden. You can also hire a local DJ or musicians to entertain your guests while they dine on the fruits of the Amalfi Coast.

Idea 5: Have a Magical Night in a Medieval Tower

Your Amalfi Coast wedding is sure to be a fairytale come true. So what better place to enjoy your reception following your Amalfi Coast wedding than in the Saracen tower. The Saracen tower is a truly unique place to hold your reception. These ancient medieval watch towers were built to warn of Turkish or Saracen pirates. Now, they boast an incredible panoramic sea view and are one of the most romantic places to hold your Amalfi Coast wedding reception in Italy. The restaurant itself only allows a maximum of 40 guests.

Choosing a venue to host your Amalfi Coast wedding reception is foolproof. Just decide what type of experience you would like to have, confirm your guest list and choose any of of these Amalfi Coast wedding reception ideas.

Ten Tips to Choosing the Perfect Accommodations for Your Amalfi Coast Wedding

Your Amalfi Coast wedding is one of the most important experiences and will be one of the most memorable experiences of your life! You want to make your Amalfi Coast wedding as easy as possible. Part of making it easy is finding a great hotel to accomodate your guests and possibly to host your Amalfi Coast wedding reception following your ceremony. There are many stunning hotels on the Amalfi Coast, but there are many things to consider when choosing the perfect hotel for the most important experience of your life.

Tip 1: Choose an Amalfi Coast hotel close to the Amalfi Coast wedding venue in which you plan to have your Amalfi Coast wedding. This will make providing transportation easier for you and your guests.

Tip 2: Choose an Amalfi Coast hotel that has a concierge service. This will assist you when you are finalizing your arrangements for your Amalfi Coast wedding.

Tip 3: Many of the Amalfi Coast hotels have stunning terraces views from the common areas like pools, restaurants and outdoor bar areas. Decide if you would like to host a small reception at your hotel on one of these outdoor terraces. If so, you may want to consider staying in the hotel that you choose to have your Amalfi Coast wedding reception at as they will be more accommodating to your needs and requests if you are also a hotel guest.

Tip 4: Before you book your hotel accommodations for you and your guests online, send the hotel manager a direct email requesting a special rate for booking multiple rooms. Most hotels will offer a discount if you book many rooms in advance. As it is common for international couples to have an Amalfi Coast wedding. However, this many not be the case if you are booking during the high season on June, July and August.

Tip 5: Determine the hotel budget for you and your guests. Your guests are already flying overseas for your Amalfi Coast wedding. Don’t assume that your guests will be able to afford a four or five star hotel. You may want to consider sending your guests multiple hotel options that vary in star rating as well as price.

Tip 6: Star rating is not everything in Europe. Some amazing hotels will have a three star rating because they don’t have more than 10 rooms, or maybe don’t have a gym. Don’t be fooled by the star ratings. Determine which hotel services are important to you and your guests and consult the website to see what they do and don’t offer.

Tip 7: Check recent hotel reviews on websites like Trip Adviser or Virtual Tourist before booking. Keep in mind that people can be difficult. Look for a pattern in the reviews. For instance, if people consistently comment on the hotel’s noise level, then expect that your experience will be the same. You want your Amalfi Coast wedding experience to be amazing and don’t want any negative surprises!

Tip 8: Are you planning to have your Amalfi Coast wedding reception dinner at the hotel? If so, check with the hotel first for pricing, special menus and requirements. If you have a small wedding party then it may be a better idea to have a small dinner reception at a local Amalfi Coast restaurant instead.

Tip 9: Find out what is included in the room rate before you book and compare. Many hotels in Europe offer breakfast or possibly half-board in the regular rate. This is a big consideration for you and your guests. Also, if you are booking multiple rooms, don’t be afraid to ask them to include breakfast at no extra cost, especially in the shoulder or low season.

Tip 10: Following your Amalfi Coast wedding, are you planning to stay in this hotel for your honeymoon? If so, check with the hotel for special honeymoon offers and packages. Many times they will include free champagne, massages and gift baskets.
